Letter From Vickie
Jay's wonderful wife, Vickie, had to write a letter to the attorney that somewhat described the life that she and Jay shared together. She also agreed to share the letter here.
"My Life With Jay"
First let me tell you about our lives before we found each other. We both had bad first marriages. He was living in Florida and moved back to Durham after his divorce. I had to move in with my parents after my divorce because I had two kids and I was not getting any child support. I lived there for three years. My sister use to be friends with Jay, and she saw him in the mall one day and set us up on a date.
My first date with Jay was December 5th 1993. My son Joey had just turned 3 and my other son Jay was 7. Now I have a Big Jay, Little Jay, and Joey. Life could not have been any better since he came into our lives. Him and the kids bonded. We all fell in love with him.
I have been a member of Rose Of Sharon all my life. Jay was baptized in the church on May 21st 1995. He was active on the sound and light team. Jay and I had a lot of respect for each other because of our failed first marriages. We knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together, so we were married October 7th, 1995 . We had a very sweet marriage, He would always tell me how much he loved me and how lucky we were to have each other . He was a great dad to my kids, everyone thought they were his real kids and he never told anyone any different. He always made sure that we had what we needed.
One of the things I am going to miss the most is every night Jay use to tuck me in bed, kiss me and say "I love you baby". I cannot ever remember him not doing that. We have never gone to bed mad at each other.
Life without Jay is going to be so hard. The house seems so empty. I thank God for my kids, family, and all the great memories. Jay would never want us to do without, so I hope we come through all this financially okay. Thank You for all that you are doing for us and I am sure Big Jay sends his thanks also.
