I, sadly, never had an opportunity to know Jay. However, if he was as wonderful a peron as his mother and his sister, I know what a great loss his family must feel. As time will prove, through their efforts, Justice for Jay will be served.

My name is Angela Mitchell. I ride with the Columbia Star riders chapter 124. I live in Darlington County SC. A few short weeks ago, I went to my weekly Rotary Club meeting. The speaker that day (May 17th) was a state highway patrol officer (Wayne Gough) trying to make his case for "seatbelts save lives" and how a primary seatbelt enforcement law would save lives. He didn't actually speak much as he wasn't a man for many words, but he brought with him a DVD to show the room of 40 business men and women. As I watched the state produced propaganda video, there was a long segment in the middle where it showed pictures and names of people killed on SC roads who were not wearing their seatbelts. There in the middle of the video was Jay's name and his drivers license picture. When I saw his name, it was familiar to me and I wanted to remember why, so I pulled a business card out of my purse and wrote down his name. Then today, as I was cleaning out my billfold, I came across the card. A quick web search reminded me of where I knew that name from and the story behind it....motorcyclist killed in MB by a hit and run....then I thought, how can SC Highway Patrol use Jay as a statistic for seatbelts?? Motorcycles don't have seatbelts! It made me angry! Very Angry!! I guess I just wanted his family to know that his name and image are being shown to community groups and school classrooms all-over SC with the message he died because he didn't wear his seatbelt. WHEN WILL THE INJUSTICE END? My prayers go out to Jay's family! Respectfully, Angry in Darlington! Angela

I was sitting at work looking up sites to find a motorcycle for my daughter when I came across this site. His story was so touching to me. I spent two hours reading through the site. My life will never be the same from reading this. I feel for all of you and my prayers are with you.

I was browsing the web and came across Jay's website. I am sorry to hear about your agony. I go on many rides with CMA (Christian Motorcycles Association). I will dedicate my next ride to Jay. He seemed like a great guy.

I have had you all on my mind quite a bit lately and so has Dana. Yesterday was Jesse's 8th birthday and he got a brand new dirt bike from us. Dana and I couldn't help but think how proud Jay would be of him (and me for giving in to Dana and letting him ride one):o). Jesse still talks about Jay a lot and still cries. Things just aren't the same anymore and never will be. Jesse's birthdays are bitter sweet for us now. Just wanted to let you know, we are thinking of you and continue to pray for you. We love you. Dana, Lizzy and Jesseman
PS - Happy Birthday Jay!! We love you!!!
